Programming a trap beat with four sounds
- Set the tempo between 130 and 160 BPM and write the hats in half-time thinking: steady 8ths first, then 16th and 32nd rolls only at phrase ends.
- Put the snare on beat 3 of each bar (half-time). Everything else stays out of its way.
- Play the bass as a melody in the track's key, and keep the kick and bass from hitting the same low frequencies at once. Either shorten the bass under the kick or sidechain it.
- Give the bass some saturation so it is still heard on phone speakers. A clean sine under 60 Hz is inaudible on most of them.

Can I use these in a release?
Yes. Every sound here comes from a recording released under CC0 1.0 (public domain). Use it in commercial tracks, beats and videos, with no royalties and no credit required. The one thing you can't do is resell the sounds themselves as a sample pack. SOURCES.txt in the ZIP lists the original recording for each file. More on licensing.
