Getting a techno kick to sit right

1. Tune the kick to the track's key. Find the fundamental with a spectrum analyser (usually 45–60 Hz) and pitch the sample until it matches the root or the fifth.
2. Use the tight kick for fast, rolling grooves and the deep one when the kick has to carry the low end on its own. Layering two full-range kicks usually smears the transient.
3. If you want a rumble, send the kick to a reverb on a bus, cut everything above about 200 Hz and sidechain that bus to the dry kick.
4. Check the kick in mono at low volume. If it disappears there, the punch was coming from stereo width or volume, not from the sound.

Can I use these in a release?

Yes. Every sound here comes from a recording released under CC0 1.0 (public domain). Use it in commercial tracks, beats and videos, with no royalties and no credit required. The one thing you can't do is resell the sounds themselves as a sample pack. SOURCES.txt in the ZIP lists the original recording for each file. More on licensing.
