Programming a two-step DnB beat
- Set the tempo to 172–174 BPM. In the classic two-step, the kick lands on beat 1 and the 'and' of beat 3, and the snare lands on beats 2 and 4.
- Let the snare be the loudest drum. In drum and bass the snare drives the groove more than the kick does.
- Play the hi-hat in 8ths or 16ths with varied velocity, and nudge a few hits slightly late for a rolling feel.
- Keep the bass mono below about 120 Hz and sidechain it lightly to the kick so the low end doesn't blur at this tempo.

Can I use these in a release?
Yes. Every sound here comes from a recording released under CC0 1.0 (public domain). Use it in commercial tracks, beats and videos, with no royalties and no credit required. The one thing you can't do is resell the sounds themselves as a sample pack. SOURCES.txt in the ZIP lists the original recording for each file. More on licensing.
